THE AWARDS

¿What is Premios Verdes?

Premios Verdes is one of the most relevant sustainability festivals around the world. Each year it awards and gives visibility to the top 500 social and environmental projects in Ibero-America, thus becoming a showcase that energizes its green economy. 10 categories aligned with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals are awarded. The categories are: Water, Forests and Flora, Biodiversity and Fauna, Human Development, Social Inclusion and Reduction of Inequality, Energy, Sustainable Finance, Urban Management, Solid Waste Management, Oceans and Responsible Consumption and Production.

Why

Latin America, our mutual land, has 23% of tropical forests, 31% of water resources and 70% of the biodiversity on the planet. However, it is the region with the highest urban growth, 80% of the population lives in cities, causing stress over the environment and thus, facing overpopulation, deforestation, biodiversity loss and water contamination. Many scientists are constantly reminding us nature is agonizing, that we are drowning the seas, deforesting lands and eliminating species. Many specialists have alerted us that we must act immediately, that we don't have enough time, we must come closer, change our lifestyle, and transform people. We must make an impact on people to generate opportunities that will make changes in the community's lifestyle.
