Fresh water

Models promote universal access to and preservation of drinking water. Projects include irrigation management, sustainable systems, water access and purification.
Description
Approximately 70% of Earth's fresh water is accumulated in glaciers and polar ice caps, and 29% is groundwater. That leaves only about 1% of fresh water available for human use.

Many water systems around the world are overloaded, some are already very close to drying out. Demand exceeds supply by 40%, 1 billion people worldwide face water scarcity, and 80% of wastewater is left untreated. Freshwater systems are experiencing a higher-than-average decline in diversity. Collective action is essential for the healthy maintenance of freshwater ecosystems.
