Matt has played a crucial role in world-renowned conservation initiatives, including the Blue Nature Alliance in partnership with Conservation International and the Pew Bertarelli Ocean Legacy Project in collaboration with the Bertarelli Foundation.

Previously, Matt led Pew's Global Ocean Legacy project, as well as Pew's shark conservation efforts, demonstrating his long-term commitment to protecting our oceans. His experience not only encompasses managing marine conservation projects, but also his work on successful campaigns that have driven significant reforms in federal marine conservation legislation. With more than 10 years of experience in the National Environmental Trust and his role as senior campaign director in the Environmental Defense Fund's oceans program, Matt has proven to be a tireless advocate for the protection of our oceans and marine biodiversity.
