Lord Zac Goldsmith, a tireless defender of the environment and citizens' rights. With an impressive track record in the political and environmental spheres, Zac has demonstrated his commitment to protecting our planet and promoting direct democracy. For almost a decade, Zac was a member of the Environmental Audit Committee and led major initiatives, including coordinating the international conference on illegal wildlife trade in London in October 2018. His dedication to climate change, wildlife conservation and animal welfare has been highlighted in his role as Parliamentary Under-Secretary and later as Minister of State. Outside of the political sphere, Zac has demonstrated his commitment to the environmental cause by raising funds for various conservation campaigns with special interest in Latin America and the Caribbean.

With an impressive track record in conservation and sustainable development, Patricia has dedicated her career to driving meaningful action to protect our planet. As Bezos Earth Fund Program Manager for the Eastern Tropical Pacific, Patricia leads strategies and collaborations to advance high-impact conservation opportunities. Her focus on consensus building and collaborative work has generated strong results in conservation projects throughout the region. With over 15 years of experience in conservation and sustainable development project management, Patricia has worked with a wide range of organizations, governments and communities to design and implement climate-smart policies and innovative environmental programs. From her leadership in island restoration with Island Conservation in Latin America to her work at the World Bank Group and her service as Advisor to the Governor of the Galapagos Islands, Patricia has demonstrated her commitment to environmental protection in various capacities.

RE:WILD - LATIN AMERICAN ISLANDS DIRECTOR

From the Galapagos Islands to the Latin American Pacific horizon, Karl has dedicated his career to implementing rewilding projects on islands, with a focus on the Latin American region. His passion for transforming human-wildlife conflicts through holistic solutions designed in collaboration with communities is inspiring. Karl brings with him extensive experience in identifying, developing and implementing innovative solutions to reduce the costs and increase the viability of conservation projects. His commitment to the implementation of financing mechanisms and the scalability of projects ensures a lasting impact on the protection of our ecosystems. Karl is currently collaborating with local partners on a rewilding initiative that spans from mountaintops to marine reefs, along the Latin American Pacific coast, from Mexico to Chile.

SENIOR DIRECTOR OCEAN HABITAT - THE PEW CHARITABLE TRUSTS

Matt has played a crucial role in world-renowned conservation initiatives, including the Blue Nature Alliance in partnership with Conservation International and the Pew Bertarelli Ocean Legacy Project in collaboration with the Bertarelli Foundation. Previously, Matt led Pew's Global Ocean Legacy project as well as Pew's shark conservation efforts, demonstrating his long-term commitment to protecting our oceans. His experience spans not only managing marine conservation projects, but also working on successful campaigns that have pushed for significant reforms in federal marine conservation legislation. With over 10 years' experience at the National Environmental Trust and his role as Senior Campaigns Director at the Environmental Defense Fund's oceans programme, Matt has proven to be a tireless advocate for protecting our oceans and marine biodiversity.

PRESIDENT AND CEO THE WILDLIFE CONSERVATION SOCIETY

Mónica Medina, a prominent diplomat and advocate for global biodiversity, was appointed President and CEO of WCS, effective June 1, 2023. With an outstanding career as Undersecretary of State for Oceans, Environment and Science at the US Department of State, and Special Envoy for Biodiversity and Water Resources, Monica has led a new era of environmental diplomacy as a US foreign policy priority. Now, Monica joins WCS to lead its mission to conserve wildlife and natural landscapes in nearly 60 countries, harnessing the power of its zoos and aquariums around the world.

CARLOS MANUEL RODRIGUEZ

CEO AND CHAIRPERSON AT GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT FACILITY - GEF

Carlos Manuel Rodríguez is a true leader in the field of environmental conservation and sustainability. As a lawyer by profession, a politician by choice, and a conservationist at heart, Carlos has left an indelible mark on the international environmental landscape. During his three terms as Minister of Environment and Energy in Costa Rica, Carlos led bold initiatives that transformed the country into a global benchmark in sustainability. Under his leadership, Costa Rica doubled the size of its forests, made the electricity sector 100% renewable, and became a top ecotourism destination. With extensive experience in Conservation International for 12 years, Carlos pioneered the development of innovative strategies such as payment for ecosystem services, ocean conservation and decarbonization strategies. His experience as an expert in environmental policies, multilateral negotiations and financing for nature conservation make him an invaluable resource to our Advisory Board. Carlos joins us at a crucial time for international environmental action, tackling challenges such as the illegal wildlife trade and preparing for next year's important negotiations on climate change, biodiversity and oceans.

HEAD OF SUSTAINABILITY AREA GRUPO BANCOLOMBIA

Franco Piza is a prominent Public Accountant and specialist in Financial Management and Organizational Development, with extensive experience in international programs focused on sustainability in the financial sector. With more than 29 years of experience in the Latin American financial sector, Franco brings a unique perspective and deep knowledge of the field. Franco currently holds the position of Head of the Sustainability area at Grupo Bancolombia, where he heads the conglomerate's sustainability strategy and acts as its representative on the international sustainability agenda. His leadership has been crucial in driving significant initiatives that promote sustainable development and corporate responsibility. Additionally, he has been instrumental in the systematic implementation and evaluation of risks and opportunities related to environmental, social and corporate governance factors. In addition, Franco is a member of the Strategic Committee of the Alliance of Global Investors for Sustainable Development, an initiative of the Secretary General of the United Nations to mobilize investment and financing towards the achievement of the 2030 agenda. He is also part of the Group of Expert Advisors of the Science-Based Goals Initiative, where it contributes to defining goals for the global financial sector in the face of climate change.

Her experience as a special advisor to Avonhurst and her association with The Monaco Foundry and RUSI positions her as an expert in policy, law and business strategy. In addition to her work in the private sector, Philippa has had a significant impact in the public sphere, serving as special assistant and advisor to President George W. Bush in the White House during critical moments in economic and political history. His leadership has been crucial in the development of innovative financial products that promote environmental protection, including the debt-for-nature swap market. Ramzi was a pioneer in replacing public debt with financing aimed at environmental protection, demonstrating a strong commitment of the banking sector towards sustainable and environmentally friendly financial products. His tenure marks a significant milestone in the integration of sustainable financial practices in the banking sector, and his experience will be invaluable to our Board as we seek to promote sustainable initiatives in our organization.

CREATIVE LEADER & ENTREPRENEUR

Eduardo Maruri Miranda is a prominent Ecuadorian businessman with an impressive career in the world of advertising, commerce and business leadership. As president and founder of Maruri Gray Ecuador, he has left an indelible mark on the advertising industry, pioneering creativity and innovation. Under his leadership, Maruri Gray Ecuador became the first Ecuadorian advertising agency to receive a Gold Lion at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in 2012, and has since garnered more than 160 Cannes Lions awards. His vision and passion for creativity have taken his company to the pinnacle of success in the advertising industry. In addition to his business success, Eduardo has dedicated his time and energy to public service as president of the Guayaquil Chamber of Commerce, congressman, and president of an Ecuadorian soccer team. His commitment to sustainable development is also reflected in his role as President of the Jury of the Sustainable Development Category at the Cannes Lions Festival.

POLITICS AND DIPLOMACY

Ivonne Baki is an extraordinary figure with an impressive career in politics and public service. Her passion for art led her to study at the Sorbonne, and she later studied Public Administration and Public Policy at Harvard University, demonstrating her dedication to learning and excellence. Her political career began in 1981 with an appointment as Ecuador's consul in Beirut, and since then she has played key roles in the diplomatic and governmental spheres. As Ecuador's ambassador to the United States during the Jamil Mahuad government, she was instrumental in strengthening relations between both countries, being the first woman to hold this position. Additionally, Ivonne served as Minister of Foreign Trade. Her commitment to conservation led her to found the Galapagos Conservancy, demonstrating her vision and leadership on environmental issues. As an Andean parliamentarian and president of the Andean Parliament, Ivonne demonstrated her ability to lead and negotiate on behalf of her country. Her appointment as head of the negotiating team for the Yasuní ITT initiative reflects her commitment to the protection of the environment and indigenous rights. In recognition of her outstanding work, Ivonne has been Ecuador's ambassador in several countries, including the United States and Qatar, where she has represented her country with distinction and commitment.

Diego has addressed the challenges and opportunities of the region on regional and global platforms such as the World Economic Forum, and collaborating with regional multilateral organizations, driving change and impact at the international level. His experience in public administration, development consulting and international cooperation makes him an invaluable asset to our Advisory Board. With a solid academic background, Diego has a master's degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Economic and Political Development from Columbia University, received a Fulbright scholarship and other recognitions from the US Department of State, and has been a Fellow in Global Leadership at the World Economic Forum, where he is currently Deputy Director for Latin America.
